Vintage Grape Blush Dupes and Swatches

I am in LOVE with MAC’s Vintage Grape blush ombre from the new Spring Colour Forecast Collection. If you haven’t seen it in person, I would def recommend taking a look:) These are much bigger than the regular MAC powder blushes and since it ranges from a light purple to a deep grape, you can get a lot of use out of these.

I went through some of my purple blushes to see if I could come up with any dupes. Although I found that Loverush could kind of replicate the darkest side of Vintage Grape, and On A Mission was somewhat close to the swirled Vintage Grape, there weren’t any exact dupes. This is worth getting and just gorgeous on!

MAC Spring Colour Forecast Lipstick swatches

The lipsticks from the MAC Spring Colour Forecast collection are all really pretty! I bought Bubblegum, Laugh A Lot and Beigeland. Then had to go back for Phlox and Radicchio

Here is Bubblegum on my lips. It’s not a very good picture but I thought I’d share it anyway so you can see how gorgeous it is on. This is my favorite lippie in the collection:)

Here’s how Bubblegum looks compared to some of my other pinks. I don’t have anything close to it in my own collection and I haven’t heard of any known dupes for it. It’s one of those unique “must have” colors:)

Here is Beigeland Lipstick compared to some other nude, bronzy pink colors that I have. I didn’t find any dupes for it either, but here is how it compares.

Phlox is a really sheer, but beautiful shimmery light pink… It is difficult to get it to show up in the picture, and I actually broke the lipstick by pressing too hard to swatch it on my arm:( Guess I will be using a lip brush to apply this one now LOL. Anyway, it is similar to Dream from the Holiday 2009 Lip Bag. Dream is also a glaze, and although Phlox is a tad pinker, they are similar enough to where you could skip Phlox if you have Dream.

TOP: Phlox, Pretty Please, Frou, 1N, Soft Illusion, Soft Spot, Not So Innocent. BOTTOM: Dream, Utter Pervette, Pervette, A Rose Romance, Lollipop Loving, Snob Appeal

Radicchio is very close to All’s Fair from the Blonde, Brunette, and Redhead Collection that came out last year. I would def say you are safe to skip it if you picked up All’s Fair.

I heard from a little birdie that MAC is going to release a Disney Villain Collection this Fall (2010)! How exciting is that?!?

In other news, I took a little road trip today and stopped off for some MAC goodies (my car always seems to navigate toward MAC LOL). I got a few pigments, blush, a couple eye shadows, two brushes, and a few lipsticks:)

MAC From Our Lips Collection – Lady Gaga & Cyndi Lauper for Viva Glam

I finally got my Viva Glam Lady Gaga lipstick swatches and pictures up and ready to go:) I wear NW25 in MAC Studio Sculpt for reference. The swatch pictures on my arm are prob about NW30 though since my arm is tanner than my face right now.

I don’t own any lipsticks like Gaga and couldn’t find any dupes in my collection at all. It’s a GORGEOUS color and if blue based pinks flatter you, I would def recommend it!

I was lucky enough to score one of the MAC 130 Brushes a couple days early! I made it my mission to get my hands on this (even though I haven’t actually had time to try it out yet LOL). But I can already tell this is going to be a great little brush!

It is smaller and denser than the 188 and 187 “Skunk” brushes. A lot of people are surprised at how small it actually is, but this is perfect for smaller areas around the nose, eyes, and mouth. Maybe MAC will come out with a larger version of this puppy in the future (kind of like an older sister- as the 182 is to the 181:)

MAC Eyeshadow Dupes for Colour 4 Gold/Neutral Quad

With all the new MAC collections coming out right now you can afford to waste money or time buying colors just like those that you already have. It happens to me all the time so I thought I would try to save someone else from making the same mistake:)

For reference, I am medium/tan skintone with olive undertones and wear NW25/30 in MAC foundation.

Here are the dupes I came up with for the new Neutral colored Gold/Bronze quad (Colour 4) from MAC’s Spring Colour Forecast Collection:

MANILA PAPER (Veluxe Pearl) – This is a gorgeous, super pigmented, bright highlighter. I have TONS of highlighters and surprisingly I didn’t have too many that were exact dupes for Manila Paper. Shore Leave is pretty close, but a little pinker than Manila Paper. There was a color in the Lace 6 Warm Eyes Palette called White Tie that is similar to Manila Paper but lacks the shimmer and frostiness. It is just a muted version of Manila Paper. Vanilla Pigment could also be used in place of Manila Paper.

Here are the some of my highlighters I swatched with Manila Paper:

TOP: Manila Paper, Magic Dust, Rite Of Spring, Blanc Type, Shroom, Femme-Fi, Naked Lunch, Shore Leave, Grand Entrance. BOTTOM: Mylar, White Tie, Bold As Gold, Oh My Darling, Chillproof, Vanilla Pigment, Universal Mix.

FLIP (Frost): Blonde’s Gold Pigment is a great, slightly more metallic, dupe for Flip eyeshadow.

MAC Flip Neutral Quad Swatch Dupes Pigments and Eyeshadows

AZTEC BRICK (Veluxe Pearl) – Aztec Brick is a gorgeous eyeshadow but pretty dupeable. I found dupes in Valet (from the Lace Warm Eye palette), Rich Symbol (from the Warm Eye Patternmaker palette), and Rushmetal pigment. Although Rushmetal is a little less red, and more gold/bronze than Aztec Brick.

CREOLE BEAUTY (Frost) – I didn’t find any exact dupes for Creole Beauty, but Woodwinked was similar. Here are the other colors I swatched with it.

MAC Spring Colour Forecast- Purple Quad DUPES!!!

It seems like with all the new MAC collections coming out, some of these shadows have to be similar to previous releases. I ransacked my entire collection the other day, determined to find dupes for the two new Colour Forecast quads.

Here is what I came up with:) I am sure there are other colors out there that are similar, but I didn’t want to mention any unless they were dead ringers! And I have the swatches to show the similarity so you can judge for yourself:)

MAC Colour 3 Quad: Mink Pink, Bruised Plum, Black Tulip, Jungle Plum

Colour 3 Quad:

Mink Pink (Matte) – No dupes that I had on hand:( But you prob use something like Pen N Pink to recreate a look in a pinch.

Top: Da Bling, Lala, Playful, Bottom: Perky, Mink Pink, Pen N Pink

BRUISED PLUM (Veluxe Pearl) – I found that Pearl of the Earth from one of the 2005 Holiday palettes is nearly identical to Bruised Plum. These are gorgeous colors (both VP texture) and this was my favorite from the quad! Circa Plum pigment would make a nice dupe as well.

BLACK TULIP (Frost): Push the Edge Pigment is very close to Black Tulip and could easily be used in it’s place. I don’t have it, but Entramauve pigment is suppose to be a dupe for Push the Edge so I am sure that would be another dupe for Black Tulip as well.

Black Tulip, Cassette, Very Violet, Stars N Rockets, Nocturnelle, Outspoken MES, Push the Edge

JUNGLE MOON (Matte): After swatching some dark purples, I found that Shadowy Lady is the much more pigmented twin of Jungle Moon. I prefer Shadowy Lady as the color payoff is much better and it blends easier. Signed, Sealed is pretty similar to Jungle Moon as well, although it’s a little less purple. So either one would probably work as a dupe:)

Edit: I just compared Smoke Signal Pigment and it is a better pigmented, prettier more versatile dupe for Jungle Moon as well:)

Push the Edge, Jungle Moon, Shadowy Lady, and Signed Sealed

So overall, this is a really pretty quad but the colors can be duped. If you are short on cash or just not totally in love with it, I would skip it and wait for some of the other great new collections being released this spring.

BRUISED PLUM = Pearl of the Earth
