So MAC has been releasing some great collections lately… I really love that they are neutral colors and so easy to wear. It can be overwhelming when so many Limited Editions come out at once, but if you just relax and do some online research that can help;) I like to look at swatches and as many pictures of the actual product as I can before I go in to the MAC store. That way I know what I want and have a little knowledge of how the products stack up against what I already own.
Come to find out that Cross-Cultural eye shadow is the more pigmented sister to MAC’s beloved staple Expresso! I found that though they are both Mattes, Cross Cultural is VERY pigmented while Expresso needs some building to get as much payoff. Overall they are almost identical in color!
Then I find out that Show Stopper e/s has a secret dupe in DARK EDGE e/s from the Tempting Quad. In the pan they don’t look much alike, but when applied it’s apparent that you don’t need both.
So after getting all these new eye shadows (which I still LOVE BTW) and finding out I had “dupes” I was kinda bummed… Someone mentioned that Warmed MSF was close to Comfort MSF. So I figured I would swatch it and see. Luckily, these did NOT show up as dupes for me! Comfort was a “muddy” yellow-toned brown without shimmer… very nice for a bronzer or blush on a natural cheek. Warmed is not totally shimmery on me by any means, but compared to Comfort it has a little “glow”. It’s a WARM, red-toned brown which highlights olive toned skin. I haven’t read too many raving reviews on Comfort, but I personally like it for an all-over bronzy color. In the pictures, you can tell that Warmed has more shimmer:)
So without anymore BS, here are some of my new swatches of the latest MAC eye shadow and MSF (Mineralize Skinfinish) dupes, compared to some of the previous collections.
